When was the last time you rested without thinking about something you need to do?
Uncover the patterns shaping you, beyond surface personality traits.
Beyond Patterns
Uncover the hidden adaptations shaping your thoughts and feelings.
What is it
What it is: Nurture is the one most people underestimate because it looks the simplest and is actually the hardest. It is the practice of nervous system restoration as biological necessity. This is not self care in the way the word has been flattened to mean. It goes much deeper than that.
Who it’s for: Anyone who cannot remember the last time they felt restored. Anyone who rests and still wakes up tired. Anyone who has achieved everything they set out to achieve and feels none of the satisfaction they expected.
What you get: A nervous system that functions from a regulated baseline rather than a depleted one. Improved emotional regulation, clearer thinking, better relationships and a quality of rest that actually restores.
The Science
Polyvagal theory identifies the ventral vagal state as the foundation of safety, connection and restoration.
Accessing this state requires specific conditions; felt safety, absence of threat, permission to stop; that chronic high performers rarely create for themselves.
Dopamine regulation research shows that intrinsic pleasure; particularly play and rest without outcome is essential for sustained wellbeing and motivation.
Depletion of the reward system through chronic over performance is measurable and reversible.
Why it matters
The parasympathetic nervous system; the body’s rest and restoration state is where integration happens. Where the brain consolidates experience and the body repairs. Most high functioning people spend almost no time there. The result is a system running on reserve; where everything takes more effort than it should, and the smallest additional demand tips everything over.
The Return
Name one specific memory from before you were responsible for anything.
Not a significant one. Small and ordinary.
Recreate it as closely as you physically can. Find that smell. Do that movement. Go to that place or the nearest equivalent.
Ten minutes.
Because the person you were before the world told you who to be is not gone. They’ve just been waiting for you to come back.
And this is how you start.
