Where does your future self live?
Vision mapping with a twist
Internal Mapping
Uncover the hidden adaptations shaping your thoughts and feelings.
What is it
What it is: Vision is the pillar that helps people get specific about who they are becoming and what they are building. This is not a vision board exercise. It’s the process of giving the brain a clear enough direction signal that it starts organising behaviour, attention and decision making around it automatically.
Who it’s for: Anyone who is successful by external measures and quietly wondering if this is actually it. Anyone who knows what they don’t want but can’t articulate what they do. Anyone who has been so focused on surviving or achieving that they’ve never stopped to ask what they actually want their life to feel like.
What you get: Clarity. A sense of direction that comes from inside rather than from external expectation. Decisions become easier. Energy stops leaking into options that were never really yours. The future stops feeling like something that happens to you and starts feeling like something you’re building.
The Science
The brain’s filtering mechanism prioritises information that matches the signal you give it. Point it at threat and it finds evidence of threat everywhere.
Point it at a specific, emotionally resonant goal and it starts finding evidence of possibility. Same world. Completely different experience of it.
Research confirms that vivid, emotionally engaged future visualisation activates the same neural networks as the actual experience; building the pathways for new behaviour before it’s even happened.
Why it matters
Without a clear internal direction the nervous system defaults to what it already knows. Give it a compelling alternative, and everything shifts. What you notice. What you prioritise. What you say yes and no to. The decisions that used to feel impossible start feeling obvious.
The Funeral Speech
Write the speech someone who loves you gives at your funeral. The one you’d want.
What did you build? How did people feel around you? What did you refuse to compromise on?
Read it back. Then ask; what would need to be different starting tomorrow for this to be true?
That gap is the vision; and it’s more honest than any goal setting exercise you’ve ever done.
